01 / Overview

What is .bond?

The .bond extension was first owned by Bond University in Australia and became an open extension under ShortDot in 2019. A .bond domain works for finance and investment sites, and also for brands that want to show a strong connection with customers.

There is no eligibility barrier for .bond. Anyone can register a .bond domain. Pay in PKR, add your nameservers and you are online.

Here is how it looks in real life. An investment adviser in Karachi who explains government bonds and savings certificates can use a .bond name.

You can register .bond for 1 to 10 years at a time. Renew before the expiry date to keep your website and email running. If it expires, there is a redemption window of about 30 days, but the restore fee is higher than a normal renewal.

Moving .bond to DomainWalay is simple. Unlock the domain at your current provider, get the auth code (also called EPP code), and start the transfer here. New registrations and recent transfers have a 60 day lock. Most transfers finish in 5 to 7 days.
