01 / Overview
What is .day?
A .day domain is made for events, special day campaigns, daily content sites and personal milestones. The .day extension is run by Google Registry and opened to the public in 2022.
.day is open to everyone. Anyone can register a .day domain. You do not need any paperwork, and the domain is usually live within minutes of payment.
A simple example: A wedding planner in Islamabad can build a couple's event page on a .day name.
Terms run from 1 to 10 years. Longer terms lock in the price and avoid yearly reminders. Expired names can usually be restored within 30 days at a higher fee.
Moving .day to DomainWalay is simple. Unlock the domain at your current provider, get the auth code (also called EPP code), and start the transfer here. New registrations and recent transfers have a 60 day lock. Most transfers finish in 5 to 7 days.

Renew .day any time before expiry. Auto renew is available in the client area. After expiry there is a grace period of about 30 days where renewal is still at the normal price, but the website may stop working. After that comes a redemption period of about 30 days with a higher restore fee. When all periods end, the name is released and anyone can register it.
Transfers of .day need the domain to be unlocked and a valid auth code from the current registrar. A domain cannot move within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer. The registrant email must approve the request. Typical time is 5 to 7 days.
A .day name goes through these stages: Active for the paid term, then Expired with a grace period of about 30 days, then Redemption for about 30 days, then Pending delete, then released.
DNSSEC is supported for .day. You can add DS records from your DNS panel once your DNS provider signs the zone.
Public WHOIS and RDAP output for .day is redacted for most personal data. Registration data still has to be accurate, and the registry can ask for it.
