01 / Overview

What is .fail?

A .fail domain is a humorous extension used for funny video sites, lessons learned blogs and satire. The .fail extension launched in 2014 and is run by Identity Digital.

Anyone in Pakistan can own .fail. Anyone can register a .fail domain. Registration is instant once payment clears.

Here is how it looks in real life. A startup founder in Lahore who writes honestly about his failed ventures can blog on a .fail name.

You can register .fail for 1 to 10 years at a time. Renew before the expiry date to keep your website and email running. If it expires, there is a redemption window of about 30 days, but the restore fee is higher than a normal renewal.

Moving .fail to DomainWalay is simple. Unlock the domain at your current provider, get the auth code (also called EPP code), and start the transfer here. New registrations and recent transfers have a 60 day lock. Most transfers finish in 5 to 7 days.
